What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation and concentration. We experience this trance-like state everyday, for example, becoming totally involved watching a movie; driving on a familiar route when you don’t quite remember part of the journey; day dreaming or reading an absorbing book. These are all common examples of going in to or being in a state of hypnosis.

Hypnosis has long been recognized as a direct and powerful means of creating change through accessing the mechanisms of the subconscious mind. Think of your mind like a computer – it has its own software which helps you to organize your thinking and behaviour, but sometimes the thoughts and behaviour gets out of control.

Hypnosis is completely safe and is medically approved and recognised by the Australian Medical Association as a useful and powerful complimentary therapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is therapy that occurs under hypnosis (when your body and conscious mind are in a deep state of relaxation). While your body and conscious mind are in a relaxed state the subconscious mind remains awake and receptive to suggestions.

During hypnotherapy the therapist communicates directly with the subconscious mind getting to the cause or source of the issue. It’s during this stage that change can occur enabling you to make positive and lasting changes in your life. It’s important to understand that all Hypnosis is self Hypnosis; the Hypnotherapist is simply providing the expertise and tools.

Hypnotherapy can help you to find new ways to deal with problems and to change unwanted patterns of behavior. It can be applied to many psychological, emotional and physical disorders enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome. It is used to relieve pain in surgery and dentistry and has proved to be of benefit in child birth.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

The name ‘Neuro-Linguistic Programming’ comes from three areas; it brings together and explores the relationship between the mind and how we think (Neuro); how we use language and communicate (Linguistic) and how we sequence our actions to achieve our goals (Programming).

Through simple yet profound techniques, NLP can change your physiology and neurology to achieve the mind body states you desire. You can:

  • Change old patterns of behaviour, habits, thoughts and emotions
  • Eliminate unwanted habits
  • Transform negative emotions into positive feelings and improve the way you see yourself
  • Enhance your self esteem and confidence
